“I have had the pleasure of reading Cammy Marble’s children’s book series about the delightful Scamper (squirrel) family. I am a journalist also, and so I am always happy to peruse new book ideas. I found the Scamper family charming. The series kept my attention as it took you through the changing of each season in the forest with the Scamper family. By the end of the series, I felt like I had a personal kinship with Chester, Autumn, and their youngsters, Scamp, Jr., Whiskers, and Baby Violet Scamper. The different characters take you on a wonderful journey through the forest, highlighting each special season of the year and how it affected the forest dwellers. I as impressed with the childlike charm of the wording used to describe Chester and his family, and I think children would love to go on adventures with the Scamper family. The detailed illustrations proved to add another dimension to this lovely, entertaining book series.”
Dana Rakerretired newspaper editor and winner of an Missouri Press Association Award. (from Missouri) Dana has read all 7 volumes.
Sort of a review, a funny story:...read the first two volumes of Holidays in Trees. He was one of my first fans, age 8 at the time. As soon as he finished reading, he begged his mother to try to get the remaining five volumes. So, one Christmas, I sent him the whole set on flash drive. His mother reported to me that he couldn’t wait for Christmas break so he could read it. Recently, I asked about getting a review from him now that he is a teenager. She said that he’d be happy to do it. But, after several days of looking, he could not find the flash drive in his boy’s disaster area of a bedroom! So, since he was not able to read it again to refresh his memory, there will be no review form him. He wasn’t comfortable “winging it.” He took my book project to heart.
